The Manteno Sportsmen's Club

The Manteno Sportsmen's Club was founded in 1937. Incorporated in 1947, the Club is chartered as a not-for-profit corporation. Over the years the Club has provided endless opportunities for families and friends to enjoy the outdoors. Today the Club is carefully managed by a governing body of volunteers that are elected annually. The officers and board members meet monthly to discuss financial and other important matters. There is also a men's meeting which is held the first Friday of every month. At this meeting all business is discussed and, if needed, voted upon for approval.

THE PROPERTY is made up of over 55 acres, which includes a 38 acre lake. The North end includes plenty of room for special events like car shows, camping, family picnics and other fun events.

THE BEACH is well maintained and watched over by qualified and certified lifeguards. There is also a beachhouse with full facilities including warm water showers, bathrooms (handicap equipped), a full working snack shop with everything from band-aids to burgers.

THE LAKE is well stocked with good sized bass, bluegill, crappie, bull head and channel catfish. During the winter ice fishing season the Club provides trout for those that enjoy fishing through the ice. Through the assistance of the Illinois Department of Conservation, the Manteno Sportsmen's Club Conservation Committee keeps a close eye on the quality of our aquatic in the lake.

THE CLUB'S LOUNGE is open to the public 7 days a week. Alcoholic beverages are served, as well as snack foods. The lounge includes a pool table and other assorted games. We have a friendly staff of bartenders that enjoy visiting with our club members and visitors.

WITHIN THE MAIN BUILDING we also have a large dividable hall and meeting rooms which are used for meetings, receptions, birthday parties, reunions and dances. We schedule various activities, entertainment and enjoyable events throughout the year. See Banquets page for more information.

MEMBERSHIP is limited is limited and subject to the approval of the Executive Board. Although we try to accommodate everyone, there may be times when we limit the number of new members. In that way we can be sure that our members will never be too crowded on the property.
